Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

International Dog Day

On International Dog Day Chater Lodge welcomed four-legged visitor Pip to help us with our game of Doggy Bingo. Pip said hello to all the residents and staff and had lots of cuddles.

All the fun of the fair

We were blessed with good weather for the Summer Fete at Chater Lodge. We had stalls selling gifts, food, an ice cream van, games, prizes and visitors from the local community, including residents families. The star guest was the donkey who said hello to residents and visitors, even coming indoors. We are so thankful we can hold events again and hope to see you at another Chater Lodge event sometime.

Fun with our big games

We have had the big games out again at Chater Lodge. They are great fun and keep us moving. Vera particularly likes Giant Ker-Plunk.

99 wishes

Thank you to everyone who sent a special card for a special birthday – one of our lovely ladies was over the moon to receive 99 cards to celebrate her 99 years – a challenge set by Maria, our dynamic Activities Coordinator.

Nanny's Hamper brings treats for Ketton villagers

We are delighted to welcome Dougy from Nanny’s Hamper who brings his van to Chater Lodge at midday on Tuesdays and Thursdays, serving the local community with cakes, biscuits and other treats. Our residents and staff love to pop out for something tasty too. We are pleased to see our car park providing a helpful service to Ketton villagers.

Ice creams all round

Chater Lodge residents love it when Gino brings his ice cream van to our home. He is becoming a regular visitor and local people are welcome to treat themselves, too, while he is at our home. Would you like sprinkles on that?
