Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant
Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019.
My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents.
I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

History of Teddy Bears
Chater Lodge Care Home in Ketton will be celebrated the ‘History of Teddy Bears’ when we welcomed local expert June downs from the Stamford U3A Antiques and Bygone Era Club into our home for a heart-warming and fascinating talk on the much cherished institution of the Teddy.
The exhibition featured a dazzling array of teddy’s both old and new and each with their own stories to tell and the lives they’ve touched. As June gave a talk on the history of the Teddy dating back to Theodore ‘Teddy’ Roosevelt. Through to the tales of Rupert Bear, Winnie the Pooh and Aloysius who featured in the film Brideshead revisited.

Afternoon Gin Tasting
This afternoon saw the fabulous ladies of Chater Lodge have a 'Gin,-Tastic' time at our Gin Tasting event, our ladies were able to sample a range of delicious flavours and enjoy a tapas themed platter of delicious snacks.
The afternoon was a great success as everyone discussed their thoughts on the different flavours, which suited their tastes with either lemonade or tonic.
This was a great opportunity for our residents to socialise together and with our colleagues as they came together to take part in a gin themed quiz!
The end of the afternoon saw Sylvie ask if next time we can host a 'Port & Cheese' afternoon. Much to everyones delight!

Virtual Tour of Mayfair
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Perfectly timed in the middle of a warm summer’s afternoon, staff and residents at Barchester’s Chater Lodge Care Home in Stamford had a fantastic time celebrating National Ice Cream Day on July 17, a brilliant excuse to sample lots of cooling treats.
Our residents and colleagues celebrated this special day with a special live virtual event with Wall’s Ice Cream as our residents will dived into the history of the Wall’s brand from launch in 1922 through major innovations such as the launch of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, Carte d’Or and more.
