Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Holy Communion for Brian

This gentleman is Brian, a resident at Chater Lodge. He enjoyed taking Holy Communion with the lovely Julia Freeman who visited us from St Mary’s Church, Ketton. Brian is a member of the church and Julia is a great friend of his, so it was great for them to catch up afterwards, too. At Chater Lodge we recognise the value of spiritual activities and reflection for residents with a faith.

Admiring Margaret's spring bulbs

Margaret joined Aaron our Head of Maintenance, and Matthew our Gardner, on a trip to B&Q. She bought some lovely bright spring plants to see on her daily walk around our garden. She has been out tending and admiring them with Aaron on this lovely sunny March day.

Dancing to our favourite songs

Margaret enjoyed some music and had a dance with Chater Lodge's Activities Coordinator, Maria.

Bucks Fizz and gifts on Christmas morning

We had a lovely start to Christmas Day at Chater Lodge, enjoying a glass of Bucks Fizz as residents opened their presents.

Burns Night decorations

Burns Night celebrations at Chater Lodge were a lot of fun. We welcomed an RAF piper to pipe in the delicious haggis, neeps and tatties made by our Chef and kitchen team, and our dining room looked lovely decorated with Margaret's painted highland stags.

Happy Birthday, Margaret!

Margaret's birthday was filled with good wishes, visits from loved ones, fun with staff and residents at Chater Lodge, and a very brightly coloured cake.
