Activities at Challoner House Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Challoner House Care Home
Preparing for Macmillan Coffee Morning
Challoner staff and residents have been busy preparing cakes and biscuits for their coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
International Nurses' Day
Challoner likes to recognise the hard work of all our staff, so International Nurses' Day was the perfect opportunity to gift our wonderful nurses with special travel mugs to say thank you.
Teddy's Bears Picnic
On 26th July, Challoner House hosted their annual Teddy Bear's Picnic; Barchy Bear arrived and joined in with residents, staff, family and friends of Challoner. The weather remained hot, allowing everyone to use the lovely gardens throughout the day.
Enjoying the Hot Weather
On 19th July, residents enjoyed the hot weather with a leisurely stroll along the local riverside and with refreshments in the local pub.
The Salvation Army
We had the Salvation Army perform a concert to honour a resident who had dedicated his entire life to being a Salvation Army officer. Residents, visitors and staff all enjoyed the atmosphere of the live music and, for the resident of honour, it bought back many happy memories.
Summer Fete
We held a summer fete during Foundation Week, raising a total of £470 for the Foundation. Activity Assistant, Reece Clarke, had residents assist with a sponsored head shave and the General Manager auctioned himself at the end of the day, where someone paid £70 to gunge him.
Staff, residents and visitors all enjoyed the day with live musical entertainment, a BBQ, games and prizes.
In addition to the £470 for the Barchester Foundation, we also raised £200 towards the residents fund.
