Activities at Challoner House Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Pet Therapy
Challoner House was visited by a PAT dog recently, and residents really enjoyed his company.
Garden Centre Trip
Residents enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere at a local garden centre.
Halloween Celebrations
Staff, residents and guests celebrated Halloween at Challoner House with a party, games and entertainment.
Challoner Wins Resident Garden Award
We are overjoyed that our garden, which is central to life at the home, has been announced as the winner of the Residents’ Garden category in the national gardening competition, Barchester in Bloom.
The competition aims to promote gardening and to celebrate the beautiful outdoor spaces lovingly cared for by residents and care home staff in more than 200 locations across the UK.
Judges were impressed by the standard of the garden, which is well cared for by Michael Softely, a resident here. Michael is recovering from the effects of a stroke and tending to the home’s garden has given him a lot of pleasure during a very difficult period in his life.
Resident Garden of the Year
Congratulations to Michael Softley, who recently won a BHC award for the Resident Garden of the Year category.
Lee on Solent
Residents enjoyed cream tea along the seaside on a day trip to Lee on Solent.
