Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Intergenerational link brings joy to Residents

Brookfield House Care Home in Lymm have teamed up with Kids Planet Nursery School, Lymm to host a weekly intergenerational social morning.

Residents of Brookfield look forward to the popular nursery visits each Monday morning when they share toys, books, song and dance and also enjoying lovely conversations with their young visitors.  Residents thoroughly love listening to the children's chatter and seeing them playing with the toys.

The nursery children enjoy biscuits and juice and are always especially kind with their offer to share their snacks with residents.  A huge thank you to Jade and Louise of Kids Planet Nursery in Lymm for making this very special weekly event possible, we are really looking forward to the next nursery visit

Men that lunch!

Our gentleman explore local hotspots across Cheshire as part of their popular, Gent's Lunch Club.

The hospitality at one of our local pubs, The Crown, is fabulous, they enjoy having a catch up and chatting with staff at the pub sharing their stories. It is always especially lovely to meet new friends in the village.

This specific jaunt, one of many arranged by Suzanne the home's Activities Coordinator, will take place once a month and the Gents will choose different venues and pubs in the Cheshire area.

Royal Parks London

cross our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London. Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Christmas Day

Here at Brookfield, we had a fantastic Christmas Day, which involved themed movies, singing and dancing, family visits followed by a beautiful festive lunch with turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, puddings and cakes.

In the morning we welcomed Father Christmas and his elves from the North Pole, who brought gifts to all our residents - everyone was busy opening their presents and enjoying a glass of bubbly before the festive feast, prepared by our talented chef and kitchen team.

After lunch, we tuned in to watch and listen to the King's speech. Our day was filled with joy, smiles, music and laughter.  We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

Delicious Mulled Wine

Residents enjoyed their homemade mulled wine!  The residents of Brookfield enjoyed making home-made mulled wine over the festive period with the ladies putting all the ingredients in a big pan whilst supported by Suzanne, Activities Coordinator who chopped the fresh fruit to give it a punch!  It went down a treat when served with the delicious mince pies. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.
