Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Games afternoon

Fun fact! Residents at Brookfield enjoy their popular group games afternoons.

Did you know that this game was invented in the 1930s amidst The Great Depression by Charles Darrow who wanted to entertain his friends and family? Though there’s a controversy that the game was invented much before by a progressive left-wing feminist Elizabeth Maggie as The Landlord’s Game to picture the ills of society, Charles Barrow is the one who sold this popular game to the Parker Brothers.

Community friends

Celia and Margaret enjoyed lunch at The Salvation Army and loved seeing everyone again after the Christmas holidays. It was such a joy for the ladies, being able to join all their friends at the fellowship group. Celia, Margaret and our good friend Sue enjoyed singing from the hymn book and sharing memories of years gone by

Birthday celebrations

Birthday celebrations are a firm fixture in the homes life enrichment programme.  Residents, staff and colleagues have recently come together to wish Eliza a very happy birthday.  The birthday girl enjoyed a visit by her family, received lots of presents and cards before being presented with a delicious home chocolate brought into the home by her family. Everyone enjoyed a slice!

Open bring community together

Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Brookfield to enjoy an open day that was held at the home on 21st January.  Brookfield hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.  Staff at Brookfield made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as freshly homemade cakes and sweet treats prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!

Intergenerational link brings joy to Residents

Brookfield House Care Home in Lymm have teamed up with Kids Planet Nursery School, Lymm to host a weekly intergenerational social morning.

Residents of Brookfield look forward to the popular nursery visits each Monday morning when they share toys, books, song and dance and also enjoying lovely conversations with their young visitors.  Residents thoroughly love listening to the children's chatter and seeing them playing with the toys.

The nursery children enjoy biscuits and juice and are always especially kind with their offer to share their snacks with residents.  A huge thank you to Jade and Louise of Kids Planet Nursery in Lymm for making this very special weekly event possible, we are really looking forward to the next nursery visit

Men that lunch!

Our gentleman explore local hotspots across Cheshire as part of their popular, Gent's Lunch Club.

The hospitality at one of our local pubs, The Crown, is fabulous, they enjoy having a catch up and chatting with staff at the pub sharing their stories. It is always especially lovely to meet new friends in the village.

This specific jaunt, one of many arranged by Suzanne the home's Activities Coordinator, will take place once a month and the Gents will choose different venues and pubs in the Cheshire area.
