Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Reminiscing over lunch

Alongside the visible activities that are planned there is always time in the day for a chat, it was wonderful hearing all about Terry's time when he met Ken Dodd which led to another resident joining in the conversation and sharing there memories of also meeting the comedian.

Terry was very much enjoying reminiscing that he invited Sophia to join him for lunch.

Colouring and a natter

Colouring has been shown to have several benefits, improving motor skills, relaxing the brain, quieting the mind, reducing anxiety and stress, improving focus ....... the Brookfield ladies certainly enjoyed their afternoon with the colouring sheets, creating some very neatly finished works of art.

As with many group activities the social element was just as important, it was lovely hearing the ladies chatter away, comparing their pictures and talking about past hobbies.

Tile creativity

Did you know that our residents can take part in weekly art & handicraft sessions? Over the next few weeks we will be working on some letter tile crafts, some works inspired by great artists and some crafts which are just good fun.

We are looking forward to seeing the residents creativity shine through but most of all we are looking forward to lots of chatter & smiles which these sessions always bring.

All about me!

The library was a hive of activity when Jo and Sophia visited from Cheshire Grange, All About Me word pictures were the order of the day, there was lots of chatter as the ladies shared their stories from the past, talked about favourite holidays, foods animals and so much more. Watch this space to see the finished pictures!

Surpise heartfelt gift

We’d like to share our deepest condolences to the family of Celia who recently passed away and a heartfelt thank you to two of her grandchildren who recently stopped to deliver this beautiful surprise gift for residents and colleagues to enjoy as their thanks for the care in which she received at the home.

Thank you and we do hope you’ll visit us and keep in touch. Love from the Brookfield family.

Trip to the golden arches!

Keeping our residents connected in their local community is an integral part of the homes life enrichment programme and we were only delighted to deliver on a wish for Lily and Barbara to take a trip to their local golden arches for a spot of lunch.

Residents, Lily and Barbara had a fantastic time at McDonald’s with Lily telling everyone she met that she was 102-years young and a real fuss was made of them both as they tucked in to their meals.  Thank you McDonalds!
