Activities at Brookfield Care Home
Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.
It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Brookfield Care Home
A spot of retail therapy
Brookfield residents enjoy getting out and about in the local community and this week we took in the sights of High Leigh Garden Centre – a popular choice! Eliza went shopping for slippers and spent time browsing the many different styles before a refreshing coffee in the café with her friend and fellow resident, Margaret.
Whilst out they were delighted to catch up with Janette and Dave and enjoyed a chat. It was a lovely way to spend the morning and Eliza was thrilled with her purchase.
Artistic flair
We have many creative residents at the home who love to share their artistic flair and are busy drawing and colouring coronation themed decorations. We host regular art sessions here at the home which are very popular amongst our residents. Vivian and Margaret were happy to design the Kings crown and a picture for the homes next raffle with a cup of tea and home-made cakes in reach.
Walking club
Here at Brookfield our walking club enjoy their regular walks into Lymm each Saturday, popping into the Sanctuary Café for a hot drink, greeting their community friends and chatting with each other over a slice of cake.
We took in the boats moored on the canal and resident, Terry loved reminiscing about boating adventures, whilst Margaret said “she’s drawn pictures of the canal and enjoyed painting the beautiful long boats years ago”, Celia was happy chatting to passer-by’s and observing the tree created by knitted squares.
The great outdoors
Residents love the outdoors and their regular walks to Lymm dam to feed the ducks. Resident, Vivian was delighted to be able to throw bread to the ducks as she reminisced about her childhood days. We sat in the glorious sunshine chatting and people watching before enjoying a refreshing cup of tea and slice of home-made cake back at the home.
Easter colouring competition
Residents of Brookfield enjoyed a colourful colouring competition as part of the homes Easter celebrations. Our residents showcased their talents and enjoyed an afternoon of creativity and fun. Our arts and craft sessions are a popular group activity here at the home and a firm fixture in our varied life enrichment programme.
Residents enjoy a live performance
April showers didn’t get the better of us as we enjoyed a fun filled afternoon and welcomed popular vocalist, Janet for a live performance. Our residents enjoy her performances and everyone joins in singing, dancing and toe-tapping along. There was lots of laughter to be heard throughout the home and we even enjoyed a glass of bubbles too!
