Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Luna the therapy Dog

Much love was shared when pretty Luna the therapy dog visited us with her owner Sharon.

As a working racing greyhound in her previous life, Luna is now thoroughly enjoying her retirement and loving life as a pet therapy dog bringing so much joy to everyone. Thank you for visiting us, Luna & Sharon, please come back soon.

A Mindfulness morning

Everyone can create! We have found that drawing can clear your head and focus your attention on the here and now.

Mindful activities like puzzles and mindful doodling books are the ultimate way to relax. Taking some time for yourself in a summer art class to paint, sketch, colour in or complete a jigsaw puzzle is great for the soul.

A Personal Best!

Our residents enjoy a variety of life enrichment activities for their minds, body and soul on a daily basis.

This week we organised a great challenge for our fitness and also created a personal best for many who took part!

Residents took part in a sponsored walk around the large grassy gardens walking a great distance of x2 laps. Everyone was awarded a certificate and offered huge support and applause.

Trixie the Rescue Dog

These are happy summer days at Brookfield House and for animal lover Margaret Villiers who has acquired a new best friend.

"Trixie" the dog was spotted on the Animal Pet Rescue Services stall & Margaret had to rescue her. Trixie is definitely here to stay and is getting a lot of welcomed attention from everyone!
