Activities at Wykeham House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rachel Stevens

Activities Lead

I joined Wykeham House in October 2022 but I have worked doing activities in care homes since I left College, I began volunteering in a local home when I was 15 years old and then took on my first job in a care home when I was 18. I have enjoyed extending my knowledge to improve my work and have a Level 2 in Dementia Awareness, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Mental Health Awareness. I have also attended courses on End-Of-Life Activities as well as Dementia focused Activities. I love what I do and for me it is important that every day is a new day for our residents with new opportunities and a smiling face to come with it.

Ladies that lunch

These ladies have become great friends since moving in to Wykeham House. We recently took them for a delicious lunch at a local hot spot. It was wonderful to see them chatting, laughing and just enjoying the simple things in life that make us all happy. Until the next time ladies.

Garden Party with the Horley Retirment Club

What a wonderful afternoon we had, when we were joined by the Active Horley Retirement Club. We treated them to afternoon tea filled with Fun, Fizz and a lots of dancing too. We look forward to welcoming back soon

Kitchen assistants

We understand the importance of maintaining independence and ensuring meaningful life enrichment here at Wykeham House. Residents had lots of fun donning their chef whites and helping Robert with the valuable job of peeling the vegetables for lunch.

Gardening Club

We always make sure that our life enrichment programme is both meaningful and varied. Gardening club is a firm favourite with our residents. They love to potter around the garden and the courtyard. Tending to the plants and watering the flowers.

Visit to Local Nursery

We recently visited Toad Hall Nursery to meet the children. We took down some goodies for them and got to meet some of them in the garden. We are looking forward to having them in our garden for a treasure hunt soon.

Massages with Maria

Residents enjoy nothing more than a visit from Maria, she is always on hand to give everyone some much deserved pampering.
