Activities at Worplesdon View Care Home

Activities at Worplesdon View

The activities team at Worplesdon View organise and run activities and events for large groups, small groups and individual residents. We include relatives, volunteers and the remaining staff whenever possible and encourage choice and participation from everyone we support. Our programme is planned in advance and is is designed provide tailored, meaningful activities for residents to participate in that will stimulate all senses, whist encouraging mental and physical well-being. We have an activity plan for all residents, and of course, this changes with the needs of each person to keep it up-to-date and useful. Worplesdon View is a fun and dynamic place to live and work, and the secret to this is that everyone is encouraged to see activities as part of their role in the home so that residents are happy and always have something to do.

Life at Worplesdon View Care Home

Bonfire Night

We enjoyed an amazing evening with so many residents family and friends. We had a really lovely firework display set off by our Maintenance Manager and everyone enjoyed some cookies, marshmallows and warm refreshments. It was most certainly cold but our small bonfire kept us warm and allowed us to toast the marshmallows. Sparklers added to the fun.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day was celebrated at Worplesdon View by many – some residents enjoyed a visit to Guildford Cathedral to listen to music performed by some talented local school children. Other residents watched a live performance from The English National Ballet Company. War poems were shared and stories told along with word searches and crosswords and sherry. Residents created some lovely poppies for our Remembrance Wall in honour of this special day.

Guildford Cathedral Visit

Residents enjoyed a visit to the Guildford Cathedral to enjoy their coffee concert. The harp and hammer dulcimer offered tranquil music as they complimented and contrasted each other for an enjoyable experience.

Bugle Performance

Residents, families, visitors and staff thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine, music and performance from Quick Silver Bugle Group, veterans from the Royal Green Jackets, the Light Infantry and the Rifles. We even had veteran, Gary Driscoll, singing live for us all in honour of one of our residents.

Pet Therapy

Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon of pet therapy with lots of piglet cuddles. We had Milkshake and Buddy visit us and put lots of smiles on the residents' faces.

River Relaxation

All aboard the Swingbridge 1 for a relaxing trip along the River Wey. Residents learnt lots of interesting facts about the river, navigation systems and the local area. Residents even got to watch the activities team hard at work opening/closing the locks so we could continue our adventure. Picnic lunches and a warm cuppa made this adventure even more enjoyable. We have not laughed so much and the team really looked after us.
