Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Honouring the Fallen

Honouring the Fallen

We are preparing to commemorate Remembrance Day on Sunday 13th November, and will be joining the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.

As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service, some residents will be taken to the local cenotaph to commemorate the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

Barchester Care Awards Winner!

Barchester Care Awards Winner!

We are thrilled to announce that we have have won a national award for ‘Community Garden of the Year’ at Barchester in Bloom 2016, which was held in Manchester on 12th October.

The award recognises the community effort that has gone into improving the garden and adding features which pay tribute to the area’s mining and fishing heritage.

These features include a boat filled with flowers, which was donated by Central First School, a pit wheel and coal tub donated by Portland opencast and officially opened by Ian Lavery MP, and the Mayor Elly Turnbull.

Barchester in Bloom is a gardening competition organised by the company, which aims to promote the imaginative planting of flowers, trees and shrubs in the outdoor spaces of its homes to create positive environments for residents and relatives to enjoy.
