I have worked in the care sector since 1982 and I started working in Meadow Park in 2001 as a Kitchen Assistant. At this time, I had a son who was at school and the kitchen hours suited my home life. When my Son was older, I was asked to consider a role as Care Assistant, which I gladly took on. After some time, I was then promoted to Senior Carer, which is a role that I really enjoy.
As a Senior Carer on a busy dementia unit, I ensure that both residents and staff members' needs are met to the best of my ability. I ensure that the residents’ day-to-day care is of the highest standard, administer medication and address and support their physical and mental needs. I support colleagues by providing a listening ear and offering guidance and support.
