Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Children in Need

Residents and staff put on their pyjamas and had a day of fun and games to raise money in support of Children in Need. Housekeeper, Cheryl, and resident, Diane, thought the cakes were lovely. £90 was raised from raffle tickets and games. Well done to everyone involved!

Armistice Day

Armistice Day

Both the residents and the team at Woodhorn Park wished to honour Armistice Day and be part of our local community. We decided to decorate our window to celebrate the centenary of the end of the First world War, in addition to remembering all of those who have fallen since that day.

We hope you are proud of our memories like we are.

Halloween Spooktacular

Halloween Spooktacular

Staff dressed in their Halloween finery for our spooktacular party and residents enjoyed some singing and dancing. A wonderful time was had by all!

10 Years of Service

10 Years of Service

Well done to Tracy McMillan, who recently received her 10 Year Long Service Award. Thank you for your loyalty and commitment, Tracey, to Woodhorn Park, the residents and your colleagues.

Library Week

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark for taking time to visit us at Woodhorn Park. Mark is the chief librarian in Ashington and, as part of Library Week, he brought along reminiscence boxes for both residents and staff to view and discuss. Irene enjoyed looking through the books and discussing the ration books.

Memory Walk

Memory Walk

Here at Woodhorn Park, we care passionately about ‘making a difference’ for residents, so we organised a Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society.

We planned our route and walked for five miles with some of our ladies walking with us for a short while, before they called into the local pub for their dinner whilst we kept on walking. We were overwhelmed by the support of  the Ashington people, who stopped cars and donated to us during our walk in addition to all of our lovely sponsors.

We have raised approximately a grand total of £600. It was a wonderful day for all of us and emotive to say the least.
