Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Lauren
Hello, my name is Lauren, and I am one of the Activities Coordinators here at Woodhorn Park.
My job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.
Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I hold very close to my heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all the activities and events that we host for them.
A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our minibus as we create new, special memories together.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Beat The Clock
We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.
Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.
Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Harrogate Chocolate Factory
We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.
Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.
The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

A visit from Blooming Creations
Residents enjoyed a visit from our friends at blooming creations. Residents enjoyed making an Easter Bunny filled with lavender.
Here at Woodhorn Park we understand the value and positive impact arts have on health and wellbeing and we always aim to champion, promote and encourage arts engagement at the home.

Spring is in the air
Spring is in the air at Woodhorn Park, Residents enjoyed making tissue paper flowers to brighten up their rooms, we discussed favourite flowers and how much we are looking forward to the warmer weather and we can enjoy the real flowers in our garden.
Here at Woodhorn Park we encourage residents to enjoy a range of activities that they can have time to reflect on their lives in the past.

World Book Day
Here at Woodhorn Park our bookshelves were bulging as we celebrated World Book Day in style. Staff dressed up in characters from their favourite stories and our resident ambassador joined in too.
The day promotes reading for pleasure, so our residents decided to host a discussion about their favourite books and authors, and to join a storytelling session, they wrote about their favourite story.
Residents enjoy their weekly book club chatting about the lovely places their stories take them.

London Ladies
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, Residents from across our services were thrilled to join tour guide, Mandy Morrow, for an exciting talk about some Legendary London Ladies.
Mandy shared the fascinating stories of eight ladies with us, from the one of the richest heiresses in the world to the original 'Roaring Girl'.
Everyone who participated truly enjoyed the experience and were delighted to take a walk down memory lane.
