Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Christmas Fayre

We held our Christmas Fayre just before Christmas. The weather was atrocious yet the support we received from our lovely families was astounding! We raised a grand total of £550 for our residents funds, so a massive thank you to everyone.

One of the residents, her daughter and grand-daughter enjoyed a visit to Santa’s grotto. Senior Carer Emma's daughter, our own little fairy, also visited Santa. She said ‘I have been a good girl all the time!’ as Emma raised here eyebrows!

Church Visit

Church Visit

Residents at Woodhorn park enjoyed a visit from John, our local vicar of St Andrew's Church, and his colleague. Irene and Elsie found the service very comforting and uplifting. We look forward to seeing them again!

Christmas at The Block & Tackle

Christmas at The Block & Tackle

Several residents and their family members were invited to the local pub, 'The Block & Tackle', for Christmas dinner and an afternoon of entertainment. Sadie enjoyed Christmas pudding with daughters, Maureen and Sue.

Elf Day

Elf Day

Care Assistant, Naomi, dressed up for Elf day to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, and enjoyed decorating one of the many Christmas trees that adorn Woodhorn Park. Resident, Peggy, loved assisting, as she decorated her family tree for years.

Christmas Party

Christmas Party

On 6th December, several residents attended a Christmas party organised by community group Mind Active. A lovely afternoon was had by all. Thelma loves dancing and danced the afternoon away whilst Peggy dressed up in items from her Christmas cracker. Thank you, Mind Active, for a lovely afternoon.

Community & Friendship

Community & Friendship

Here at Woodhorn Park, we strive to be a smaller community living as part of the larger community within Ashington. Delorus and Ellen were strangers prior to moving into Woodhorn Park and, looking at their beautiful smiles, all we can see is friendship and companionship. They are absolutely stunning ladies!
