Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

White Lodge Welcomes James Gray MP For North Wiltshire

White Lodge had the pleasure of welcoming James Gray, MP for North Wiltshire to the home today.  James Gray was shown around the home by General Manager, Ramona Gherendi and Customer Relationship Manager, Catherine Crawshaw, taking time to talk to residents and staff.  As MP for the area for nearly 25 years, he thought he had visited every corner of North Wiltshire, but had not been to White Lodge and as with everyone who visits was taken back by the stunning location, extensive grounds and tranquility.  We would like to thank James Gray for taking the time to visit White Lodge and very much hope to welcome him to the home again in the future.

Walks around the Grounds

It was pleasantly warm at times today so we took the opportunity to walk down towards the farm. It is a beautiful time of year, so long as it isn't raining we go for our daily walks and with so many acres to choose from every walk is different. We then came in to enjoy some mug cakes, Tina spotted these and thought they would be fun to try and they were really tasty - perfect when you fancy some cake instantly!

Harvest Festival Floral Displays

Memory Lane residents have created some stunning floral displays. We are so fortunate to have such talented creative residents who really enjoyed an afternoon chatting, designing and then placing the displays around the home.  We were delighted to drop off two of our stunning flower arrangements to St Mary's Church, Purton for their Harvest Festival Service.

Updating Memory Lane Community

Work is continuing to update the White Lodge Memory Lane Community, we cannot wait to reveal the end result! Ramona's boot was full yesterday with some fabulous items for the seaside theme. The whole team have been working so hard with Tina and Tracy painting over the weekend and Carl was delighted to have an assistant, one of our residents was keen to help out with the painting. The interaction with the residents on Memory Lane has been so lovely as we work on the project, there is a real sense of excitment and interest.

Barchester Wine Tasting Event

White Lodge residents took part in a virtual wine tasting (the wine wasn't virtual!) presented Barchester's Hospitality Manager Christophe Noel along with Lee Isaac and Nick Parker from Unity Wines and Spirits. They introduced each wine giving the history, how the grapes are selected along with the processes in making the wine. The wines were accompanied by a selection of cheeses. It was a very enjoyable and interesting event.

Doughnut Delight

How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it - today that kindness was a delivery of doughnuts for the White Lodge team. Thank you so much to Jane Harris the daughter of one of our residents who thought doughnuts would bring a smile and they certainly did, they were delicious and greatly enjoyed.
