Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Indian Day

White Lodge continued their International theme days with an Indian Day. We would like to thank Chef Tony and his team so much for the mouthwatering food and Thresiamma our Unit Manager for wearing one of her stunning saris. Not only are themed days great fun (we all really enjoyed some Bollywood music!) they are a lovely opportunity to bring everyone together.

A Little Bird.....

Did someone mention Christmas?!  At White Lodge we all love Christmas and this year are planning a Christmas Craft Fair (more information to follow). Our creative and talented residents have started their making with Robin Coasters. These will be glazed so are heat resistant. With the nest of robins in our greenhouse this year, robins really represent White Lodge.

White Lodge at Frampton Country Fair

White Lodge attended the Frampton on Severn Country Fair along with our Gloucestershire Homes. It was a very positive event with large numbers attending. It was also great for team to be out and about again talking about the residential, nursing, dementia and respite care we can offer. Thank you to our chefs for baking such delicious cup cakes and to our activities team for such a varied programme - it was a real talking point.

Bringing Magic to White Lodge

White Lodge residents are getting so much out of their Tovertafel Magic Table. Designed in the Netherlands the Tovertafel uses interactive games to connect those living with dementia. Using interactive light projections there are a variety of games. The residents love to join in with games which are designed to stimulate both mentally, socially and physically. This session was very positive with a lot of interaction between the residents taking part. The leaves are always popular, but we all loved the cute puppy chasing the ball.

Knit and Natter with New Knitters!

White Lodge's Knit and Natter group is growing with some some keen knitters amongst our new residents. We are knitting baby hats for the Great Western Hospital. It takes us all back to knitting for our own little ones and how tiny those first clothes were.

Glorious Sunflowers

It was a relaxing afternoon in Memory Lane creating some beautiful flower arrangements to display around the home. Everyone loves the sunflowers, they are so striking and make us all think of summer.
