Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

How lucky White Lodge are to have resident pianists. Colin led a lovely sing a long in the cafe, it is a joy to hear the music and singing as you walk around the home.

White Lodge Celebrate International Chocolate Day!

The White Lodge team pride themselves on bringing a smile to residents' faces, but this week they had a bit of a helping hand with a trolley of chocolate. Who wouldn't smile at a chocolate delivery! The trolley of chocolate was to celebrate International Chocolate Day.

Resident of the Day

Every day at White Lodge there is a resident of the day on each floor, this means every few weeks every resident has their own special day. It is a bit like a birthday every month! This is a treat but also important, every department will visit the resident and discuss what they need / want for example the head chef will check we are offering the right food, drink and what the resident fancies. The activities team will spend one to one quality time doing what the resident wishes. Today Joy was one of our residents of the day and so we spent time outside looking at all the flowers and trees in the gardens in detail, talking about the beautiful colours.

Benefits of Painting

White Lodge residents are creative and talented and really enjoy a variety of arts and crafts. The activiites team set up a painting session and the end results were stunning. Painting is relaxing and offers many benefits including improving memory and concentration, enhancing motor skills and adds to optimism - I think most people coud take something from this and pick up a paint brush.

Pamper Time

Our lovely activities assistant Lucy treated residents to relaxing manicures today. The ladies really enjoyed Lucy's salon and she is very skilled as well, the end results looked beautiful. Pampering is so important for us all and with Jenny's our hairdresser visiting weekly we ensure all our residents look and feel tip top.
