We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Christmas Lights Switch-On!
Looks like Father Christmas got stuck after eating too many of our delicious, home-made mince pies!!
We switched on our first ever Christmas lights today and were delighted to have welcomed the Mayor of Wallingford in to turn on our playful Winter Wonderland scene! Residents enjoyed watching the display, meeting the Mayor and indulging in home-baked goodies and glasses of bubbly.
Christmas Season Launch Party!
What a fabulous way to begin the festive period! Residents welcomed December in with a delicious glass of bubbly and the wonderful Dave Dunbar, live entertainer and showman.
Dave performed an amazing selection of songs and Christmas favourites, which had residents up and dancing all around the lounge! It's safe to say that Christmas is definitely coming to Waterside Court!
Remembrance Sunday
Residents enjoyed working together and stretching their arts and crafts skills as we prepared for Remembrance Sunday.
We made our very own poppy wreath and stand display for this memorable occasion and for the finishing touches, each resident signed their name on the back of the display.
Waterside Court's Professionals' Breakfast
A freshly made bacon or egg roll is the perfect start to any morning! Waterside Court welcomed professionals in for our very first Professionals Breakfast, which will be held on the second Wednesday of every month.

A blissful morning
We had a relaxing morning at Waterside Court. Angela enjoyed sitting back and listening to Therese reading her magazine in one of our beautiful lounges, with a stunning view from the window that overlooks the nearby fields.
We are often asked whether there are fixed times to get up or go to bed - the answer is "no!" Our care is truly person-centred, so if residents like to wake up early and read the paper, we support their routine and enable them to do so. Having such personalised routines is key in encouraging residents to form their own friendships within the home too; these two early birds frequently sit down together for a morning natter!
Morning Yoga!
Waterside Court has lots of spacious lounges and seating areas inside, but we are also lucky to have wonderful outdoor spaces and balconies that overlook the surrounding fields and trees. Residents like Ann enjoy making the most of these rural views by sitting outside for their afternoon tea or by choosing to do their morning yoga and exercises on the balcony!
When asked why she chooses to do yoga on the balcony, Ann responded: "You can't beat the view. Nothing can replace the calm and the view".
