Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Morning Exercises

Resident; Dottie had her lady friendship group up and active with morning chair exercise and dancing, only stopping between tracks for a glass of water to lubricate the joints and boost the body!

Feline Visit brings smiles

How do you make a special lady very happy?

At the grand age of 100 years old, resident Jean doesn’t want for much, when asked by our Deputy Manager; Victoria what her favourite things are, she mentioned she adores cats, saying some of her ‘best friends’ have been feline.

Just look at the smile on her face when Victoria made her dreams come true bringing in her two 4-month old Maine Coon kittens; Loki and Malarkey to visit. Jean had a lovely time getting to know the brother and sister kittens saying ‘it made her day just purrrfect’.

Waterside Wishing Tree

To welcome in the New Year our residents decided to decorate a 'wishing tree' full of goodwill messages, wishes and hopes for 2022.

Helped by our Activities Coordinator; May, each resident created a star or glistening heart with a personal message to hang on the branches for all to see.

From all at Waterside Court, we wish you Happy New Year - may you have good health, lots of love, and plenty of laughter in good company throughout 2022.

Christmas Day at Waterside Court

Our residents enjoyed a beautiful Christmas lunch prepared and served by the home’s hospitality team for Christmas, along with a very special visit from Mother Christmas and her trusty Elf helpers!

Everyone received a person-centred present, from Tartan PJ’s for our Scottish resident; Rene and a super warm dressing gown for Anne, who always seems to feel the cold. Resident; Derrick loved his new jumper and stood 'proud as punch' by the tree looking like a catalogue model to show it off in style.

It was a super day, we sat together for a traditional Christmas dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. The room was filled with joy and laughter, from the bang of Christmas crackers and reading of jokes to the odd Christmas carol between servings.

The residents and staff of Waterside Court had a fabulous time together, chatting a raising many toasts to wish family and friends a very Merry Christmas.

Singing sensation ‘Emily Yarrow’ gave our residents and staff a festive performance to remember! With songs from the shows and a verity of classic Christmas tunes, live in our lounge, Emily had us all up and ‘Rocking around the Christmas Tree’.

Community Christmas Gifting

Our residents wanted to wish a very Merry Christmas to their community based friends and members of the Cholsey Day Centre

They spent a morning together, lovingly choosing different sweet treats to pack into cups for delivery to the centres members. We all hope they raise a smile, and give everyone a virtual Christmas hug from their neighbours at Waterside Court.

We look forward to seeing you in 2022.
