Maraya Rabuka

General Manager

My name is Maraya Rabuka and I have worked in health and social care for seven years, with a dental nursing background before that.

I started as a Night Care Assistant in 2015 and have worked as a Senior and Team Leader on a Memory Lane floor for the last five years. I was a Deputy General Manager for the past year and a half and hold an NVQ Level 3 Qualification and a Team Leading Level 2 Qualification. I am also currently working through my NVQ Level 5 Management Qualification.

I am excited to be managing a new-build care home and I am enjoying every moment of it; I learn something new every day. 

Victoria Nemar

Deputy General Manager

Hello, my name is Victoria and I’m the Deputy Manager for Waterside Court. I have worked in Social Care for the past 5 years but also have an older brother with Learning Disabilities, which meant that I became involved in social care from a very young age. I can fully empathise with the difficult decisions that we can sometimes face and I love my role because it enables me to provide support and guidance to those in need of it.

I am also a Dementia Champion for the Alzheimer’s Society and am always willing to help support those living with dementia and their families. I run frequent Dementia Friends sessions and am always available to support those in need of help.

Rachel Noke

Home Services Advisor

Hello, I'm Rachel, the Home Services Advisor for Waterside Court.

As a Home Services Advisor, my role is to provide information to clients and their families who are looking to make the move into care.  No question is too big, or small, I'm here to help and provide support. If you would like to book a visit, and have time to chat, our reception café is always open, with freshly made home-cooked cakes and a beverage of your choice awaiting.

I have spent 25 years in a customer facing job and enjoy understanding what is important to our clients and their families. I pride myself on my integrity and empathy. Away from work I am a wife, and mother to 4 boys who definitely keep me occupied!

Activity Coordinator

My name is May and I am the Activity Coordinator for Waterside Court. I have a vast amount of experience delivering activities in care homes and also in working with children and younger adults living with learning disabilities. I am experienced with delivering activities for an array of interests and needs, including for those living with dementia; I am a Dementia Friend for the Alzheimer’s Society and have completed a range of Dementia Awareness courses.

I love working as an Activity Coordinator because I love seeing the smiles that activities can put on people’s faces. I’m a very enthusiastic and dedicated person and I am proud that this shows in my work.

My speciality is Arts & Crafts – I love to get creative and bring out the creativity in others. I look forward to working closely with residents and will treasure and value them as if they were my own family.

Senior Care Assistant

Hi I’m Ladi and I’m 38 years old, born in the Czech Republic. I have 23 years of experience in nursing and care. I am especially interested and knowledgeable in dementia and palliative care. I love animals and currently own 10 pets. I also live locally in Cholsey with my partner, Sam, and our two children.

I love singing and ANY musical theatre. I am a lively person and always in the mood for a sing along.

Michaela Mehmet

Senior Care Assistant

Hello, my name is Michaela and I’m 55 years old. I have 20 years of experience in care. I got into care because I was made redundant from a previous job, but once I started in a care position I loved it. I enjoy meeting new people and especially love listening to all of the stories they have to tell about their lives.

My hobbies include golf, researching family history, tennis and crocheting. I have a daughter who is 21 years old and a lovely little grandson.

Matt Hanson

Head of Maintenance

My Name is Matt and I am the Head of Maintenance at Waterside Court.

I have been doing maintenance for over 12 years now and I am a carpenter by trade, which I have been doing since the age of 15.

My role here is not just about doing the maintenance in the home – it is also to make sure that every resident feels safe, secure and comfortable in their home. A significant part of my role is also to make sure that our residents have everything they need for day to day life, whether it be to help sort the TV in their room or put pictures up on the walls to help personalise their space.

My favourite thing about my job as a Care Assistant is seeing the residents’ happy faces. I’m very passionate about making sure our residents enjoy each day.

Lorna Hanson

General Assistant

Hi, I’m Lorna. I’ve taken a whole new career change and I’m looking forward to pursuing a career in care as it’s been something I have wanted to do for a little while now from when my mother-in-law fell ill.

As a General Assistant, I will be helping in the kitchen and also form part of the housekeeping team, so I’m really looking forward to helping the residents in many different ways.

I love animals – I have two cats, a dog, a horse, a pony and soon I will have two guinea pigs! I am also a dog groomer and have been since 2006.
