Hi, my name is Lorraine, and I am the Senior General Manager for the Cotswold region and General Manager here at Waterside Court Care Home. Welcome to our website!
I have been privileged to work across the care sector with older people and adults with learning disabilities. I have worked in quality and compliance roles, as well as in management. I qualified as a nurse in 1998. My ultimate goal has always been, and always will be, to enhance and enrich the lives of those we have been trusted to care for and support.
I’m a nurse by background, and like most nurses, I started my journey in the NHS. I joined Barchester because I believe very much in; 'Celebrating Life'. I live this core value in every aspect of my life and work. I am dedicated to putting our residents at the heart of everything we do.
It is important help people live a life that is meaningful to them. I am excited to help our residents achieve this. My experience in quality and compliance work means I am always keen to achieve and improve the highest standards of care. I am a great believer in consulting our residents so that their experience with us can be the best.
My name is Maraya Rabuka and I have worked in health and social care for six years, with a dental nursing background before that.
I started as a Night Care Assistant in 2015 and have worked as a Senior and Team Leader on a Memory Lane floor for the last four years. I have been a Deputy General Manager for the past year and hold an NVQ Level 3 Qualification and a Team Leading Level 2 qualification.
I am excited to be working in a new-build care home and I am enjoying every moment of it; I learn something new every day.
Hello, my name is Victoria and I’m the Home Services Advisor for Waterside Court.
Having a brother with Learning Disabilities meant that I became involved in social care from a very young age. I can fully empathise with the difficult decisions that we can sometimes face and I love my role because it enables me to provide support and guidance to those in need of it.
Another part of my role involves working closely with groups and organisations in the local community. My aim is to form strong relationships so that we can bring the community into Waterside Court, helping us to enrich and benefit the lives of our residents, their families and the local community.
I am also a Dementia Champion for the Alzheimer’s Society and am always willing to help support those living with dementia and their families. I run frequent Dementia Friends sessions and am always available to support those in need of help.
If you would like some advice about moving into care, or just fancy a chat in these difficult times, please get in contact and I’ll be happy to help however I can.
My name is May and I am the Activity Coordinator for Waterside Court. I have a vast amount of experience delivering activities in care homes and also in working with children and younger adults living with learning disabilities. I am experienced with delivering activities for an array of interests and needs, including for those living with dementia; I am a Dementia Friend for the Alzheimer’s Society and have completed a range of Dementia Awareness courses.
I love working as an Activity Coordinator because I love seeing the smiles that activities can put on people’s faces. I’m a very enthusiastic and dedicated person and I am proud that this shows in my work.
My speciality is Arts & Crafts – I love to get creative and bring out the creativity in others. I look forward to working closely with residents and will treasure and value them as if they were my own family.
Hello, my name is Dennis and I am the Head Chef at Waterside Court.
I have been working as a qualified Chef for 27 years. I have previously worked in high-end hotels and whilst this is my first role in a care home environment, my knowledge of delivering the ultimate dining experience is easily transferrable.
I am passionate about creating a lavish, restaurant-style meal experience that makes our residents feel special and treated. I strongly believe that good food can be and should be delivered within the care environment.
Food plays such an important part in our lives and impacts not only our physical health, but our emotional wellbeing as well. That’s why it is so important to me to make sure I am delivering wholesome and delicious food to our residents every day.
In my own time, I enjoy going out and listening to R&B music. There’s always music on in my kitchen and I enjoy brining that lively part of myself to work as well.
Hi I’m Ladi and I’m 38 years old, born in the Czech Republic. I have 23 years of experience in nursing and care. I am especially interested and knowledgeable in dementia and palliative care. I love animals and currently own 10 pets. I also live locally in Cholsey with my partner, Sam, and our two children.
I love singing and ANY musical theatre. I am a lively person and always in the mood for a sing along.
My name is Samantha and I am a Senior Care Assistant with a history of working with dementia.
I am a Dementia Champion here at Waterside Court. Dementia care is a passion of mine as it allows me to make a real difference to somebody’s life. I have high expectations when it comes to standards of care and I am excited to be part of a great team with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
I live locally to the area and I have two children and a variety of animals
Hello, my name is Michaela and I’m 55 years old. I have 20 years of experience in care. I got into care because I was made redundant from a previous job, but once I started in a care position I loved it. I enjoy meeting new people and especially love listening to all of the stories they have to tell about their lives.
My hobbies include golf, researching family history, tennis and crocheting. I have a daughter who is 21 years old and a lovely little grandson.
My Name is Matt and I am the Head of Maintenance at Waterside Court.
I have been doing maintenance for over 12 years now and I am a carpenter by trade, which I have been doing since the age of 15.
My role here is not just about doing the maintenance in the home – it is also to make sure that every resident feels safe, secure and comfortable in their home. A significant part of my role is also to make sure that our residents have everything they need for day to day life, whether it be to help sort the TV in their room or put pictures up on the walls to help personalise their space.
Hi my name is Terrie and I’ve been working in health and social care since 2014.
My favourite thing about my job as a Care Assistant is seeing the residents’ happy faces. I’m very passionate about making sure our residents enjoy each day.
Hi, I’m Lorna. I’ve taken a whole new career change and I’m looking forward to pursuing a career in care as it’s been something I have wanted to do for a little while now from when my mother-in-law fell ill.
As a General Assistant, I will be helping in the kitchen and also form part of the housekeeping team, so I’m really looking forward to helping the residents in many different ways.
I love animals – I have two cats, a dog, a horse, a pony and soon I will have two guinea pigs! I am also a dog groomer and have been since 2006.
