Hempton Field Care Home
Hempton Field Care Home in Chinnor, Oxfordshire
Overlooking the stunning farmland of the Chiltern Hills, this impeccably landscaped former doctor's house is situated a short distance from the centre of Chinnor, offering nursing care and respite care in a warm and friendly environment.
The majority of bedrooms are en-suite, set across two floors, with each room tastefully decorated and maintained to the highest standards. Hempton Field has as much personality as its residents—you can be proud to call it home.
Activities staff oversee a busy schedule of events. Residents are encouraged to participate and help plan these events to ensure there is something for everyone. There are daily activities in the home, as well as frequent excursions outside it and big celebrations throughout the year.
Hempton Field is situated on half an acre of grounds, where you can relax in the gorgeous sheltered courtyard, surrounded by flower beds and a pond. The gazebo area has views of the Chiltern Hills and is perfect for outdoor socialising.

Our Team

Sharon Thursby
Hi, my name is Sharon, and I am the General Manager here at Hempton Field. Welcome to the website!
A majority of my career has been spent in the health and social Care sector, initially as a Deputy and Manager of children’s homes, working with local safeguarding teams. In 2005 I completed a combined Foundation Degree and level 5 in Care Management, and became the general manager of elderly/dementia residential and nursing homes.
I have worked for Barchester since 2017, initially as an Operational Trainer, ensuring training to our staff is reflected in the fantastic care our homes across the country. Now I am delighted to be the General Manager of Hempton Field. I am passionate about ensuring our lovely residents receive outstanding care and live life to the fullest.
It is a pleasure to work with the fantastic team here who whole-heartedly embrace the whole home approach and I love hearing the enjoyment of our residents in activities provided in the home. When you hear residents saying ‘what a great day’, it is the best feeling ever.
I live reasonably locally and have a wonderful supportive husband who offered his services as a volunteer to one of our homes—I am very proud of him for that! I have 3 grown up sons and 1 daughter and a growing number of gorgeous grandchildren that I thoroughly enjoy spending time with. We have 3 rescue dogs and I enjoy travel and the great outdoors.
I am very much looking forward to meeting and supporting you and your wonderful family here at Hempton Field.
