Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Birthday Bash

Birthday Bash

Carer, Steph, jokingly requested a balloon, cake and a bunch of flowers for her birthday, so our General Manager, Katie, obliged.

Clarins Makeovers

Clarins Makeovers

We had Clarins in for makeovers as a pamper event for the residents. Pictured is our lovely lady, Jean, who enjoyed a full face makeover and felt even more beautiful afterwards.

Gardening Club

Gardening Club

Residents love getting involved in keeping our home looking its best. Our Gardening Club has been busy working alongside our Gardener, Karen, and we are delighted to say that we have won the divisional award for 'Barchester in Bloom' for our wonderful work.

Emergency Services Visit

Emergency Services Visit

Emergency services personnel deserve a break, but rarely get one. Here at Tennyson Wharf, we value and fully appreciate all they do for us. We have been giving them refillable Barchester mugs filled to the brim with a steaming tasty drink of their choice for them to take away and enjoy throughout the day, with our compliments!

Boating Trip

Boating Trip

Residents enjoyed a trip out with their friends and relatives on the river. We hired out a catamaran boat and enjoyed a relaxing sail in the local area, spotting wildlife as we went. Fun was had by all and another trip on the water will soon be arranged!

Graffiti Grannies

Graffiti Grannies

The names Doris, Elsie and Gladys aren’t among the tags you’d normally expect to see written in graffiti, but a group of care home residents have proved that you’re never too old to learn new skills by taking a lesson in graffiti art. Vanda Bradshaw and Audrey Clarke were two of the residents at Tennyson Wharf to grab an aerosol and learn the art. They were taught by artist James Mayle, who usually teaches much younger people how to wield spray paint.
