Lancaster Grange Care Home in Newark-on-Trent

Lancaster Grange is a purpose-built care home situated on the Fernwood Park Estate in Newark. The home is designed to provide the highest quality residential and nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia.

All our care plans are based upon the needs of residents, and we treat each person as an individual. Learning about residents' life stories is a key part of our person-centred care approach. This valuable work helps us to connect with those we support on a personal level and enhances the overall care that we can offer them.

Our varied activities and events programme takes into consideration the interests of residents and is designed to create a fulfilling and stimulating environment whilst enhancing feelings of self-worth. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationship of trust we build with residents and their loved ones.

Our Memory Lane Community is dedicated to providing stimulation in addition to security and first-class care. We are proud to be one of the first homes to be accredited as part of Barchester’s 10-60-06 Dementia Care Programme, reflecting the enhanced dementia care and improved quality of life experienced by residents here at Lancaster Grange.

You are very welcome to visit any time and experience our hospitality and facilities for yourself. This will give you the chance to meet some of our dedicated staff and discuss any care needs you may have. We hope to see you soon!

Types of care

The care we provide is delivered in a way that promotes independence for those who live in our home. Where possible, it is important that residents are encouraged to perform daily tasks independently or with minor support. Our services are devised with individualised treatment in mind for each person, so getting to know everyone and understanding their needs is imperative to delivering bespoke, person-centred care.

Mupatu Mungwaluku

It’s my great pleasure to welcome you to Lancaster Grange's website; my name is Mupatu and I‘m the General Manager.

I’m a Registered General Nurse who joined Barchester in 2005 as a Senior Care Assistant. Most of my nursing experience with the company has involved working with residents living with dementia and workplace mentoring.

My role is to manage all daily operations within the home and ensure that those we support experience exceptional service and top quality care.

Brent Grantham-Rae

Home Administrator

Brent Started with the company at the end of February 2015 working at one of our sister homes Tennyson Wharf in Lincoln and joined as Community Advisor/ Administrator. Brent moved to Lancaster Grange in January 2016 to take up the role as Home Administrator and comes from a Finance and Customer Services background. At Lancaster Grange we are lucky enough to be able to offer a range of solutions from Respite Care to Permanent, in a care home with 24 hour nursing and dementia care provided. Throughout this journey Brent is here to offer both guidance and support in a friendly and approachable manner.

He originally trained at a prestigious Performing Arts School in London as a dancer and spent many years teaching and choreographing until two serious spinal operations sadly ended that career. In his spare time he enjoys listening to varied music and spending time with his partner and two Labrador dogs.

Charlotte Widdison

Activities Coordinator

I have worked at Lancaster Grange since 2014. I started my journey working in the kitchen and as a Hostess, and I found myself interacting and wanting to spend more time with the residents in the home, which spurred me on to apply for a role on our activities team – and I feel that I have found my passion in life!

I was named as a Divisional Winner at the 2017 Barchester Care Awards in the 'Activities Coordinator of the Year' category, and I can honestly say I enjoy every day working here, knowing that I am making a difference to residents' lives.

I always endeavor to provide a varied and exciting activities programme, and pride myself on meeting each and every person's needs. I have a fabulous group of volunteers behind me, who offer their help with one-to-one sessions, befriending groups and trips out.

I have great relationships with our 2 sister homes and we often visit each other for coffee morning and other events.

I have 2 great assistants on the team and their input and hard work just proves how much we are all dedicated to making residents' lives meaningful.

Dan Brett

Head Chef

Dan has been part of the team at Lancaster Grange since we opened. He very quickly showed his style and expertise with food, which resulted in him being promoted to Chef Manager. Since his promotion, visitors to the home have complimented it on its cuisine, with many returning to sample the canapés and cakes that we have now developed a reputation for!

Having worked previously in hotels and restaurants, this is Dan's first experience in the care sector; the fresh ingredients used and the standard of food expected was a pleasant surprise to him.

His interests include making furniture, interior design and, as you would expect... baking!

Nikki Hade

Head of Housekeeping

Nikki has been a housekeeper for three years and a head housekeeper for two. She joined the team in June 2013, so has seen the home completed, playing a significant part in the ‘fit out’ and preparations for our VIP opening. Nikki has elevated her department to a centre of excellence, training new housekeeping recruits for our region in Barchester. Her lovely family join in many of our social events as part of the Lancaster Grange family, which consists of residents, relatives and staff with their own families. Nikki has unbelievably just become a grandmother for the 4th time!
