Meet the Lancaster Grange Care Home Team

From nurses and carers to chefs and housekeepers, staff in our home are here to deliver high quality care and services to those we support. Check below to meet some of the friendly faces you are likely to see when visiting our home:

Charles Sadler

General Manager

Hi, my name is Charles, and I am the General Manager here. Welcome to our website!

I have worked for Barchester since 2018. I have recently relocated from Wokingham with my wife and 3 children. Family and people are important to me and I have worked in healthcare since 1998, initially with the NHS, before moving to roles on a regional level with various learning disability charities, and more recently, other elderly care providers.

I think very highly of Barchester, and I have always admired our robust, organised and well-managed company, and have added Lancaster Grange's and my family feel to make our wonderful home a well-rounded environment.

You will struggle to find a more open and inclusive place for the most important people in all our lives to receive the care they deserve.

I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Debbie Burns

Acting Deputy Manager

Hello, I am Debbie Burns, the acting Deputy Manager at Lancaster Grange.

I am a registered nurse with 40 years’ experience, starting with the NHS working in care for the elderly, acute medicine, the National Blood Service and NHS community nursing. I came to Lancaster Grange having worked at Barchester Edingley Lodge as a senior nurse.

I have joined a great team at Lancaster Grange, where our greatest desire is to deliver quality person centred care to each resident

Tonya Cairns

Tonya Cairns

Senior Nurse

I studied at Nottingham University School of Nursing, where I graduated in January 2012. My first placement was at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, where I stayed for two years & gained some great experience. I then took a position in a care home as an RGN and, in 2015, I started at Lancaster Grange. In 2017, I was promoted to Senior RGN. I love my job and enjoy being part of a great team.

Kate Clark

Administrator

Kate has worked at Lancaster Grange for many years as a Senior HCA and now our front of house. Kate goes above and beyond for all the people we support here but also for our families, most often being that first person people speak to and therefore the centre of communication at our lovely home.
Kate always has time for absolutely everyone and will take that time to really get to know people. Everything is Kates job and she is seen getting involved in most things in the home from helping the care team, kitchen, activity team and sometimes even driving around some of our lovely people that live here.
Kate is very representative of the fantastic culture here at our wonderful home.

Charlotte Thompson

We would like to introduce to you our Senior Activities Coordinator, Charlotte Thompson.  Charlotte has worked at Barchester since 2015 and prides herself on delivering a person centred approach, valuing equality, diversity & offering tailored activities.  Charlotte joined the team at Tennyson Wharf in October 2022 before moving back to us here at Lancaster Grange in January 2023.

Charlotte is pleased to be welcoming families and volunteers back into the home.  Charlotte is a senior activities coordinator and enjoys supporting other homes in our region as part of her job role.

We would like to Welcome our new Head Chef Paul McCormack to Lancaster Grange Care Home. Paul has been a Chef for 28 years, and started his career in the Territorial Army.

Our residents certainly enjoy the selection of homemade pastries every morning at our cafe, ranging from homemade sausage rolls to raspberry and white chocolate Danish swirls

John Bowker

Head of Maintenance

Hello, Im John. Im the head of maintenance here at Lancaster Grange and work with my colleague Robert ensuring everything in the building works as it should and Robert works hard to ensure the gardens looks presentable and fabulous as they always do. I joined Barchester in 2022 originally working for our sister home before taking the opportunity to transfer here shortly after.

I have worked in the construction industry for 40 years, specialising in the Healthcare and Education sectors. Working with the wonderful people we support here brings a wonderful aspect to my work and I enjoy chatting with people just as much as the physical parts of my job.

We are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that your environment is as personalised and homely as it should be and I take great pride and comfort from seeing the impact decorating rooms with personal pictures and items has on the people we support and the happiness that follows.

Nikki Hade

Head of Housekeeping

Nikki has been a housekeeper for three years and a head housekeeper for two. She joined the team in June 2013, so has seen the home completed, playing a significant part in the ‘fit out’ and preparations for our VIP opening. Nikki has elevated her department to a centre of excellence, training new housekeeping recruits for our region in Barchester. Her lovely family join in many of our social events as part of the Lancaster Grange family, which consists of residents, relatives and staff with their own families. Nikki has unbelievably just become a grandmother for the 4th time!

Jade Mitchell

Admin Assistant

I am Jade Mitchell, I joined Lancaster Grange in 2016 as a Health Care Assistant before becoming a Senior Health Care Assistant. In 2023 I was awarded Carer of the Year in the East Midlands Care Home Awards which was a very proud moment for me. I take great pride in my work and ensuring our residents have the very best person centred care and will always go above and beyond for everyone.

Due to my care background I can happily advise, help and assist with any issues that may arise in the home, I have recently taken the role of Admin Assistant and I am really enjoying meeting and greeting all of our new residents, family and friends although you will often find me darting around the home depending on the request at that time.

I have three teenage children which I am very proud of and love spending time with them, I also have two dogs that keep me busy when I am not working.
