Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Life at St Thomas Care Home

The Gardener's Life

The Gardener's Life

Our Gardeners here at St Thomas not only make our garden look lovely, but they also take the time to engage with residents. Eli and Charlie worked extremely hard and enjoyed a much-needed tea break together afterwards.

We at St Thomas would like to say a huge thank you to Soans gardening company and a special thank you to Eli.

Employee of the Month - May

Employee of the Month - May

Christine was nominated for May's Employee of the Month buy a family member because of her willingness to always help others, for always having a smile on her face and for nothing ever being too much trouble. Congratulations, Christine - you’re a fantastic member of the St Thomas team!

Flower Arranging

Flower Arranging

Our ladies spent some quiet time in our beautiful chapel discussing different gardening techniques whilst flower arranging and creating lovely displays for our home.

Dementia Awareness Week

Dementia Awareness Week

During Dementia Awareness Week, we visited Barchester's Cherry Blossom Manor to enjoy music from Tunes for Life. It was wonderful to see residents enjoying themselves and the music brought back some lovely memories from days gone by.

Library Trip

Library Trip

We had a lovely trip to our local library; residents took out some books they wished to read and we also took out some books for use at our Gardening Club. We finished the afternoon off with some Costa coffee and cake.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day, Tracey joined us for an afternoon 'knees up'. Residents thought she was great and enjoyed singing along with her to all their old favourites. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by everyone.
