Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Life at St Thomas Care Home

Helping Hands

Helping Hands

A gentleman resident helped out with folding table cloths and napkins whilst reminiscing about his childhood.

Creative Minds

Creative Minds

Kayleigh from Creative Minds visited us recently and residents at St Thomas had a great time painting. One resident said that she thought it was very relaxing and a wonderful way of socialising.

Tommie's Bar

Tommie's Bar

On Thursday 23rd February, St Thomas officially opened 'Tommie's Bar.' Jane Graham, the Stewardess of Basingstoke Railway Club (pictured behind the bar), cut the ribbon and served residents, families and staff for the first time. She said that she hopes that the new bar will bring a little bit of the outside community into the home. A fantastic night was had by all and we look forward to making many memories at our new local. We would like to say a huge thank you to Jane for such a great evening.

Our BAFTA Awards

Our BAFTA Awards

On 12th February, here at St Thomas, we held our very own BAFTA awards, and everyone had a lovely time. Neil Turner, our musical entertainer, worked with our activities team to play songs for the appropriate awards. We would once again like to thank Neil for all the support he gave us.

Musical Entertainment

Musical Entertainment

We'd like to say a great big thank you to Jim, from Goodnight Sweetheart, for his musical entertainment. Residents had a wonderful time singing and dancing thoughout the afternoon. Jim even looked the part in his kilt and the residents thought it was fantastic.

Haggis for All!

Haggis for All!

We would like to thank our chef, Nar, for rustling up some haggis for residents to enjoy while celebrating Burns Night. It went down and treat, but it was a little like Marmite: “you either love it or hate it."
