Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Residents were feeling very summery as they made these beautiful, colourful zebras. We really do enjoy it when Kayleigh comes in from Creative Minds.

Delightful resident, Heather, really enjoyed when Paul Nicholas comes to sing for us! In her own words: "I love listening to his voice and it takes me back some years!"

Open Day

Open Day

St Thomas welcomed the local community for an afternoon of entertainment, teas and cakes and the chance to meet the team and look around the home.

The open day was held on the 21st April,  from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. Guests were encouraged to ask all the questions they had about care, and had a chance to sample the hospitality and entertainment on offer at the home.

Classic cars were on show, courtesy of the Boozinstoke Rockin Fraternity, and the Thames Vale Vultures Motorcycle Owners Group visited with motorcycles and a trike. The residents and relatives of St Thomas thoroughly enjoyed coming to look at them and being able to sit in the cars and on the trike. One resident reminisced about the days when he owned a Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle and the touring he did on it and the places he visited.

The Relatives' Room

The maintenance team, which consists of John & Marius, has been working hard to create our lovely 'Relatives' Room'.

It is hoped that this area will be a quiet and relaxing area for relatives and loved ones to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of the main home when they need to. The sofa also converts into a bed, enabling relatives to stay if they wish.
