Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

Chocolate Puzzle

Chocolate Puzzle

We finally finished our puzzle of 1950s chocolate and sweets, which brought back lots of memories. We googled what the chocolate wrappers looked like now to compare. Thanks to one of our relatives for kindly donating this to us.

Integenerational FUn

A few residents buddied up with children from the local Dove House School. Here are some of the cakes that they decorated. It is lovely to see the relationships that they have been building with each other. We look forward to welcoming them back every Friday.

Burns Night

Burns Night

We celebrated Burns Night this year with some delicious food and poetry reciting. It was a lovely evening!

Christmas Cake Competition

Christmas Cake Competition

Chef, Nar, got into the festive spirit and made a Christmas tree cake for the Bachester Christmas Cake Competition. I was very tasty; residents loved the little snowman he made out of icing!

Remembrance Day

Arthur went to the local Remembrance Day service. He was a member of the Royal British Legion, so we marched along their march route with them all. After the service, he enjoyed a hot coffee and a burger. He said he had a smashing time!
