Activities at Red Oaks Care Home

We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.

Sue McHoy

Activities Coordinator

My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.

I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Life at Red Oaks Care Home

Volunteer Recognition Day at Red Oaks

Volunteer Recognition Day at Red Oaks

Red Oaks have many individuals who like to give their time freely for the benefit of the residents. They help to make each day different and varied for everyone who lives in the home. Red Oaks decided to honour these individuals - some of whom have been coming into Red Oaks for 20 years - by having a coffee morning and presenting them all with gifts as a way of saying thank you to each and every one of them.

Jon McDevitt Entertains the residents

Jon McDevitt Entertains the residents

Jon has been coming to Red Oaks for a long time now, as the residents love his repertoire of 60's and 70's songs, which are all very toe-tapping. All the residents are actively encouraged to take part and to play accompanying instruments.

A Trip to the Farm

A Trip to the Farm

Every year, Coombes Farm welcomes the residents of Red Oaks to come and see all the newborn lambs. Residents get the opportunity to hold them, which seems to really put a smile on their faces.

Nick the Skittles Man

Nick the Skittles Man

Nick originally developed his skittles alley when his own mother was a resident in a nursing home. The skittles alley can be configured to suit any home with what ever available space that they have. Nick is a regular at Red Oaks, and all the residents look forward to him coming and bringing his lively entertainment.

Local Schools Need Help with Their IT

Local Schools Need Help with Their IT

St Peters, Jolesfield and Ashurst Junior schools invited Red Oaks residents to help the year four children with an IT project that they were doing. What the schools wanted was for the children to get as much information from the home's residents about their earlier lives and to then utilise this data in an IT project. Both the residents and the children had a great time.
