Activities at Red Oaks Care Home

We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.

Sue McHoy

Activities Coordinator

My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.

I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Dancing with Dignity Day

On the 16th October, Red Oaks held a Dancing for Dignity Afternoon Dance with John McDevitt, a Music Therapist. All the residents had a really good time listening to the music and dancing along.

Funny Photography

When we have held these sessions before, residents have been fascinated seeing the instant results on the television. This time, we decided to photograph everything in black and white, which they all really enjoyed.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Staff and Residents at Red Oaks held a charity coffee morning on 29th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It was a big success – we managed to raise over £250 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

Barchester in Bloom

We're proud to announce that Red Oaks has been named as a divisional winner in the 'Garden of the Year' category for the 2017 Barchester in Bloom competition. Well done to everyone who made this possible!

Garden Party

Garden Party

Due to the weather, our annual garden party had to be held inside, rather than in the Garden. We had 2 entertainers, Lori Standen and Georgina Collinson and, together with the champagne flowing, everyone had a great time.

Proms in the Park

Proms in the Park

Now an annual event, 'Proms in the Park' was once again held at Red Oaks, with Sidonie Winter on vocals and Brass Fusion providing the music.
