Activities at Raleigh Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kirstie Cobb

Activities Lead

I joined Barchester as a carer in 2019, and quickly realised I had a passion for helping people live their best lives. In June 2022 after a move to Exmouth, I joined the team Raleigh Manor as a carer and enjoyed helping with the activities. When the role of Activities Coordinator became available, I jumped at the chance to combine my care background with my desire to truly enrich the lives of the residents in my care.

Antiques Valuation Day Brings Gems Out of the Woodwork

On the 24th of September,  Raleigh Manor hosted an Antiques Valuation Day.

Local expert, Piers Motley from Piers Motley Auctions kindly provided estimates and advice to those who brought their antiques and collectables along. There was everything from very old gems, walking sticks and mechanical money boxes to record collections and ceramics.

“The most surprising items to come along were a truly astonishing collection of autographs” said Piers.

The event was a fund raiser for the Sarah Wright charity, championed by Exmouth Mayor, Steve Gazzard with his partner Diane and the town cryer, Roger in support.

Soul Food During a Time of Reflection

During the past week while we mourned the loss of our Queen and paused our facebook messaging, comfort food featured heavily in our activities here at Raleigh Manor. We made our own pizza, have got the Christmas Cake in production and took time to join Exmouth Methodist Church at their coffee morning. What wonderful welcoming hosts they were. We look forward to going back

Men's Shed Officially Opened With Help From Barchester

Beer Men's Shed, a well-known local group in Beer, that needed to build a new workshop to house their growing community was able to get their project completed after receiving a grant of £5,000 from Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.

The grant was offered in the name of local care home Raleigh Manor, run by Barchester Healthcare. Louise O’Sullivan, Home Services Advisor attended the event on behalf of Raleigh Manor.

“It was an absolute pleasure to attend the opening of this fabulous facility, run by people who want nothing more than to give back to their local community while providing a haven for men in search of companionship and purpose.” said Louise.
