Activities at Raleigh Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kirstie Cobb

Activities Lead

I joined Barchester as a carer in 2019, and quickly realised I had a passion for helping people live their best lives. In June 2022 after a move to Exmouth, I joined the team Raleigh Manor as a carer and enjoyed helping with the activities. When the role of Activities Coordinator became available, I jumped at the chance to combine my care background with my desire to truly enrich the lives of the residents in my care.

This greatly anticipated event lived up to expectations. The Exmouth Shanty Men came to entertain us and they we fantastic. They delivered an engaging show with audience participation and time to get together and chat as well. No rum this time but plenty of tea and cake.

Intergenerational Easter Bunny Hunt

Our annual Easter Bunny Hunt with the Chunky Chowns Child Care group was a great occassion again. We hid Bunny's and treats around the home for the residents and children to find together. A joyous event for everyone.

Book Buying in Sidmouth

What a lovely time we had visiting Sidmouth today. Some of our residents wanted to visit a book shop, so we decided to pay Winstone's bookshop a little visit. and of course stopped for coffee and cake. Another great trip chosen by the residents here at Raleigh Manor.

World Book Day

Everyone enjoyed celebrating World book day. Our very own book club which is run by Nic was joined on the day by Brixington Primary Academy reading ambassadors. They came dressed as their favourite book characters and shared a few chapters of their favourite books. We can not wait to have them here again, always a favourite with the residents here at Raleigh Manor.

New Book Club Launched

A number of avid readers in the home recently started the Raleigh Manor Book Club. Facilitated by our Home Administrator, Nic our book worms get together every month to discuss the books they are reading and to share their favourite stories. This initiative is one of many resident led initiatives. As we have new residents joining us all the time, new activity programmes are created to support their passions.

Regular Exercise Enjoyed by All

Our residents love the exercise sessions we run throughout the week. Keeping active is so important in later life and our residents fully embrace this as the attend our variety of classes held throughout the week. We have a selection of classes. And, along with other physical activities we are keeping our residents as active as possible.
