Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Pets As Therapy

Lizzy and Ruby's visits continue to bring such joy to the residents. Both are real characters, they love seeing everyone and met some of our new residents. Thank you so much Gaby for their visits and for the time you also give the residents.

Christmas Cake Memories

What do you remember most about Christmas as a child?  As we set to work making our Christmas cake, our residents remembered making the Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings, putting a shilling inside as well as getting to lick the spoon when they were children!  It is wonderful to see so many Christmas traditions continue.  We are sure this cake is going to be delicious and there was no skimping on the brandy!

Preparation for Poppy Display

In two weeks the country will commemorate Remembrance Day. To mark this important day residents today began making poppies to create a special display. The British Legion marked their centenary this year, the support they offer veterans as vital now as it was 100 years ago.

Harvest Festival Lunch

We had a wonderful Harvest Festival lunch and would like to thank Stuart and all the catering team for the stunning table display and buffet lunch.  Moira read a Keat's poem about Autumn, Jackie said a prayer and Lorna led the singing of "We Plough the Fields and Scatter".  We are in a rural community and it is important to reflect on how important agriculture is to Gloucestershire and how grateful we all are to have plenty of food.

Visit to Barton End Stables

We had the pleasure this week of returning to Patchwork RDA residents have always loved going to meet and watch the horses up at Barton End Stables.  It is a charity Moreton Hill have supported for many years, Riding for Disabled enhances the lives of thousands of adults and children every year.  Pony Alfie in the photos is so gentle with such a lovely nature, the children love riding him.  Everyone so enjoyed the visit and even got to celebrate Lily's 10th Birthday.  We are delighted these visits are back on the activities programme.

Courtyard Activities

Moira and Roger continued their sterling work planting up the troughs. Today we added some winter pansies, the courtyard is looking great with continuing colour. Frances added our home made fat balls to the bird feeders and hung these around the court yard while some of the ladies were soaking up the rays!
