Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Happy 100th Birthday Pauline

Happy 100th Birthday Pauline.  Pauline celebrated in style with fellow Moreton Hill residents enjoying a special cake made by Stuart and his team accompanied with prosecco.  In the afternoon Pauline went out for high tea with family at Stonehouse Court Hotel nearby.

Even more exciting we get to do it all again on Friday as Ham celebrates his 100th Birthday!

A few interesting facts about 1921 which was obviously a good year!  The world was recovering from a pandemic with 27% of the world's population infected with Spanish Flu.  Southern Ireland and Northern Ireland were formed.   For those born in 1921 life expectancy for a woman was 60 and a man 58.  The average UK house price was less than £500 and a pint of milk just over a penny.

Moreton Hill Traditions

Moreton Hill was Barchester's first care home, there are traditions that are still in place today including every resident making a decoration for the Christmas trees around the home. Over the past few weeks residents have been making painted wooden and felt decorations, as well as bobble hats. These beautiful creations were placed on the trees today as residents enjoyed decorating our largest trees whilst enjoying some panettone - it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....

Local MP Siobhan Bailie Visits Moreton Hill

Moreton Hill had the pleasure today of welcoming MP for Stroud, Siobhan Baillie, along with her assistant Victoria Newman.  Siobhan Ballie was welcomed to the home by Daney Thomas, General Manager, Xin Zhao, Regional Director and Catherine Crawshaw, Customer Relationship Manager. Siobhan then took the time to answer questions from the residents followed by having afternoon tea with the residents and staff. A broad range of subjects were discussed, including climate change and what is happening locally to work towards carbon neutral and this included Siobhan explaining the vital role of wetlands like Slimbridge for carbon storage. Social care and the new funding policies were top of the agenda. We also chatted about the home and our residents including the fact we will be celebrating two 100th birthdays this month as well as the varied Barchester Life Enrichment programme. Siobhan is the first female MP for Stroud and was elected just before the country went into lockdown. Thank you to both Siobhan and Victoria for their time, we know how much the residents appreciated it.
