Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Happy Birthday Evelyn

Happy Birthday Evelyn, all celebrations at Moreton Hill always include cake! We also took a trip out somewhere new Leaf & Ground, near Dursley and residents really enjoyed this cafe, shop and garden centre. It is another venue added to the list, we are so fortunate to have so many different places to visit on our trips out.

World Book Lovers Day

Yesterday our weekly poetry group celebrated World Book Lovers Day by not only reciting poetry, but also talking about memorable books. What was so interesting is how many books our residents enjoyed as children that are still being read by children today, classics such as the Famous Five and Just William series of books, novels like The Secret Garden and the wonderful Beatrix Potter's books. We all agreed relaxing with a good book was one of life's great pleasures.

Another of our resident's great pleasures is sitting out in our sunny courtyard, it is very rare there isn't someone sat out enjoying the tranquility and Moira's latest poem sums up the array of colour.

THE MAGIC OF COLOURS

Our courtyard resembles an artist’s palette

Full of colours I never forget

Pale pink hydrangea, deep purple lavender

So easy to remember

The troughs are full of colours dark and light

All combine to make a wonderful sight

I sit in my chair

Enjoy sun and fresh air

Perfect therapy in these times of despair!

Moreton Hill's Olympics

It has been a really fun week with Moreton Hill's Olympics.  It began with balloon volleyball and then the shooting events which bought another day of laughs with our own Olympic flame burning bright.  Nancy, Rosemary, Pat and Mari made winning shots with the Nurf gun and really were excellent sports.  On the podium Ruth with bronze, Ham silver and our gold medalist Roger.

New Yoga Positions

At today's yoga class most of the positions were seated, but a few brave residents practiced a chair pose called the mountain pose tadasana followed by part utkatasana. It encourages balance, good posture and elongation of the spine!  Everyone is really enjoying and benefitting from these yoga sessions.

Olympic Preparations

We are getting ready for our own Olympics at Moreton Hill. Penny, Iris and Nancy have begun by creating the rings, we will keep you updated!
