Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Jackie Chillingworth
Hello. I am Jackie, the Lead Activity Co-Ordinator at Moreton Hill. I have worked for Barchester for over 10 years. Now, together with my team and the staff at our beautiful home, our aim is to help all residents live life to the best they can by bringing meaningful and enriching activities into their lives.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Moreton Hill Care Home

Music is an important part of life at Moreton Hill
We have our own choir – The Melody Makers and we often have people in to entertain us with singing, piano recitals, guitar, accordion and the bagpipes! We have even had an opera singer perform! Here is Hector who helps out at Moreton on a Saturday playing the piano in our Dining Room and Mel who comes regularly to sing and play for us.

Planting and Gerdening in the Sunshine
We have been busy planting and gardening this month. With the help of Eddie our wonderful gardener we made chickens and butterflies in our art and craft session to decorate the hanging baskets that are outside the Reception area. With the hot weather our residents help out with the watering and upkeep so that everyone can continue to enjoy the display for the rest of the summer months.

Trips Out
Now that the weather is warmer and the days longer we make the most of our minibus and the glorious Gloucestershire countryside taking regular trips out, usually to places that our residents have chosen to visit. A recent trip took us canal side near Stroud where we sat and admired the peace and wonderful views whilst enjoying a cup of tea or a cool drink. Roy brought along his mouth organ and played a few tunes!

Family & Children Fun Club
Joy and Fun to our Family and Children Fun Club every Friday in our Library at Moreton Hill.
Refreshments and sweets are available. Today, children and their parents had the opportunity to create friendships and new games.

A Visit from Pete Calveley
Pete Calveley- CEO at Barchester, visited Moreton Hill on 12 May 2023. One of our Resident ambassadors –Moira Hall, welcomed him with a painting- created by a local artist as a token from the residents and team members and with a beautiful poem.
Regional Director- Xin Zhao said “Moira is one of the most involved resident ambassadors she has ever met. “

Punch and Judy
A little bit of the traditional seaside was a great treat for our residents. Punch and Judy are usually based at Weston Super Mare but they made a trip up to Gloucestershire to entertain us all. In the summer months we plan to take some day trips to the seaside. It’s something to look forward to when the warmer weather finally arrives.
