Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Godsells Cheese

We were delighted to welcome Liz Godsell of Godsell’s Cheese to give another talk about her farm and the cheese making business that she and her family run in the nearby village of Leonard Stanley.  Liz brought along a selection of cheeses to taste and our residents enjoyed these and a glass or two of port to accompany.  Most popular of the selection of cheeses were the beautiful Single Gloucester and the super powerful and tangy Singing Granny’s Sister.

Postal History of Gloucestershire

Moreton Hill residents were delighted to welcome back Stonehouse History Group who gave a talk on the history of the postal service in Gloucestershire.  The key is the one that is used to open the old postbox.  As always their talks are so interesting and enjoyable, thank you.

Teckels Collect Donations and Bring Special Visitors

Thank you so much to eveyone who donated to the Teckel's basket.  Moreton Hill were delighted that Teckels Animal Sanctuaries came in to collect the items and bought two very cute visitors with them.  Residents had some lovely cuddles and they were very at home.  Supporting local charities is very important to residents and the team.

Boat Trip on the Severn

Moreton Hill residents had a wonderful day out on the boat at Purton with at The Willow Trust thank you so much to our Captain Buzz - what a great day. Ed and Roger had the opportunity to steer the boat. We were nifty at avoiding the showers! Our hospitality team packed us up a tasty picnic. Everyone so enjoyed the experience watching the wildlife and relaxing on the boat.

Gloucestershire is so fortunate to have this charity offering such unique experiences for all ages. Moreton Hill were delighted to present the proceeds of the Jubilee Raffle to support the work of the trust.

Blackberry Picking

Officially autumn starts on September 22nd, but there are many signs of the seasonal change at Moreton Hill including juicy ripe blackberries. Residents loved going backberry picking and then enjoyed these tasty fruits with an afternoon cream tea.
