Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Cheese and wine evening

Who doesn't love cheese and wine, so we thought why not have a cheese and wine evening in the home which the residents thoroughly enjoyed. Residents got to try lots of different flavours which got the taste buds going.

A really enjoyable night of socialising had by all and everyone is looking forward to the next one.

Moors Manor Pub

Who doesn't love going to the pub so we thought why not have our own pub in the home. We had a variety of drinks, crisps and cupcakes that we baked that morning. Residents all got quite competitive playing darts and we finished off the afternoon with a quiz about beers and are winners were Ivan and Rita who were able to answer all of them. Bibesh our activities coordinator also read an article about how to make your own beer. We all had a wonderful pub experience and look forward to the next one.

Minibus trip to the local aquatic shop.

Our minibus outing was a little different this time and residents also wanted to go and look at the local aquatic shop which was next to the garden centre. Resident Marjorie then started to talk about the large pond she had in her garden which had lots of lovely fish in.

Weekly knitting group

We have our weekly knitting group now working towards the winter project of knitting scarfs for the community. Quite a few of the residents are enjoying this and it will be so lovely to see the finished items. Knitting is very relaxing and also a great time to have a knatter as well.

Yoga with Rosemary

We had the lovely Rosemary come in to the home to do a seated yoga class which everyone really enjoyed. Yoga is great for the body to keep you active and also feel calm and relaxed too. Rosemary has stayed with us for respite previously so it was wonderful to have her back in the home and we look forward to her doing another class soon.

Valerie's Art Exhibition

When we found out that Valerie used to do lots of painting we then spoke to her daughter and she was able to bring in some of her collection and they were amazing.

Together with Val we decided to do a mini art exhibition at our home and show her artwork to the other residents and their families. The exhibition went amazing as Val got so many compliments and admiration from the staff, visitors and also our residents who looked through the exhibition. Val also shared the story behind each painting which most of them were real life of the Poole area, the ship her father was captain of, painting of her of her father, mother and their dog in their backyard. Val was so happy to see her paintings and to reminiscence all those beautiful days.
