Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Truffle making with Kitchen Assistant Jo

To carry on with the countdown to Christmas we thought we would do a bit of baking as it is the season when calories don't count! Residents Veena, Val, Rita and Lynda all enjoyed making truffles with kitchen assistant Jo. They had a couple of different flavours of mix to make the truffle with an assortment of toppings to finish them off. Residents, staff and their families all got to try them and they were rather delicious.

Christmas Light Switch On.

We started the homes Countdown to Christmas and what better to start this than with the Christmas Lights switch on.

Residents and their families all came along to see the big reveal and enjoyed the afternoon with a festive quiz, sing-along, mulled wine and homemade mince pies which were a very big hit.

Keep an eye on here for lot's more wonderful Christmas activities happening in the home.

Gardening club

We recently purchased some new raised borders that we have built for the garden so that residents are able to do some gardening in the home.

Here we see Jenny, Jean, Robert and Val all join in and plant the plants in the borders. We look forward to watching them grow over these next few months.

Paul Spencer sings to our residents

We had entertainer Paul come in to sing to the residents. He did a selection of songs from from lot's of different genres and had everyone clapping, tapping their toes and some even got up to dance.

We do love having musical performers in the home and we look forward to Paul's next visit.

Minibus trip to Haskins

Residents here at Moors Manor always enjoy their minibus trips and this one was just as much fun. Residents went to local garden center Haskins to have a look at their beautiful Christmas displays they had, pick some plants to go into the new raised borders that we have made in the garden and then finish off the trip with tea and cake. What better way to spend an afternoon with friends and having a lovely chat.

Gents Darts Club

We have recently started a gents club in the home and they are really enjoying a good old game of darts. It is great to see the competition between them and also get better the more they practice.

We may just need to hold a competition later in the year to see who is the best here at Moors Manor.
