Kings Park Care Home in Ferndown

Kings Park in Ferndown provides excellent 24-hour residential care in a warm and friendly environment. Alongside long-term care, we also offer short-term breaks for respite and intermediate care. Our experienced and dedicated team are ready to deliver exceptional standards of compassionate care, which focus on the individual needs of each resident.

The home features a wide range of facilities including a café leading onto our landscaped gardens, a hair and beauty salon, and luxurious spa bathrooms. As with all Barchester homes, there is a full and varied schedule of virtual and live activities each and every day which residents are welcome to get involved in as much or as little as they wish. For those living with dementia, there is a dedicated area called Memory Lane, which offers high quality care and thoughtful touches to help make life easier. Features, such as adapted crockery and tableware, sensory gardens with low risk walkways and activity kitchens enable resident’s to engage in life's everyday simple tasks and pleasures.

Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood. Meals are freshly prepared on-site by trained chefs, who provide a range of nutritious and tasty food, catering for special dietary requirements when needed.

You’ll find us in Ferndown along Church Road – we’re neighbours with St Mary’s Church. We look forward to showing you around our beautiful home, but in the meantime have a look at our gallery and see for yourself

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Rachel Smith-Harrison

General Manager

Hello, my name is Rachel and I am the General Manager here at Kings Park. Welcome to our Website!

I am passionate in ensuring that our residents live a fulfilled and happy life and I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my role, mostly I love to sit and chat with residents and hear all about their interesting stories and lives.

I am extremely proud of the fantastic care we deliver to our residents here at Kings Park and we are able to do this in an equally as fantastic environment. I have a passion for developing and motivating staff to ensure we strive to deliver the best care to our residents

I am a trained nurse and have experience across many years of working in both private sector and the NHS.

When I’m not busy at work, I’m busy within my home life.  I am married and have three children ranging from six to eighteen years old.  I have a boxer dog who enjoys long walks out in the country.  I also have a passion for running and am currently trying to complete several marathons to reach one hundred completed runs.  However, I have a long way to go!
