Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Meadow Park Care Home

Mother's Day

Our ladies at Meadow Park loved their Mother’s Day surprise at our home. Our residents were gifted flowers from all the staff at Meadow Park and were also treated to an Afternoon Tea to celebrate the day together as a big family. A very happy Mother’s Day from us all here at Meadow Park.

Red Nose Day

To support Red Nose Day campaign and their mission to end child poverty, we got involved in a fun-filled fundraising activities.

Through the power of entertainment and laughter, we raised awareness and life-changing funds for the children that need support the most.

Our residents enjoyed putting on red noses, watching a compilation of funny sketches and baking delicious treats in support of the lovely charity.

Theatre inspired virtual talk

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.  ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Crufts 2022

Residents joined together and became judges at Meadow Park by looking through pictures of dogs our community had sent us. Our residents love animals and celebrating Crufts 2022 was the perfect way for our residents to engage with them. Our residents took great pride in choosing the winners of our own dog competition to celebrate with gifts and vouchers donated from our local Pets At Home store in Cramlington.

World Book Day

We had a fabulous time celebrating World Book Day.  Our staff went above and beyond taking part in dressing up as their favourite book characters for the day for our residents to see. Our residents enjoyed guessing what books staff chose their characters from, reminiscing about some of their own favourite books and why they are important to them. Residents enjoyed reading some of their favourite passages to staff and sharing books between each other to find something new they may also come to love.

Politics and Passion at Cliveden

We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.

The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.

Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.

The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
