Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Mallard Court Care Home
Flower arranging group
We pride ourselves here at Mallard Court making our very own table decorations as part of our popular weekly flower arranging group.
It was Children in Need theme on this occasion, so we decided to make ‘tea cup’ posies to decorate our dining room tables. We chose bright yellow Chrysanthemums and soft pink Roses with gorgeous blue Freesias and as usual we foraged in our garden here at Mallard Court and found beautiful scented Rosemary to add as our foliage and fillers.
Poppy crafts as home remembers
Residents at Mallard Court showed their creative flair as they created wreaths and displays for their Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday as their paid their respects. They made beautiful handmade poppies and colour coordinated floral designs made by our residents and staff with hand painted boards and poetry read by the homes activities team. It was a team effort in honour of those lost and remembering.
Blenheim Palace
Our residents were thrilled to join Antonia Keaney - Blenheim Palace’s Historian for an intriguing virtual talk on Winston Churchill.
The private resources of Blenheim Palace were drawn upon to afford very new and refreshing insights into this remarkable man. During the talk Antonia shared fascinating information about the breadth of talent, achievement and personality of the "Greatest Briton": soldier, politician, statesman, painter, writer, orator, family man - and bricklayer!
We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed learning more about UK’s former Prime Minister.
Blooming Haus
We were delighted to join Blooming Haus’s Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass, where Master Florist, Michal and his business partner - Michael showed us the best method to create beautiful festive wreaths.
Following the tips and ideas learnt during the amazing virtual experience, we were happy to put our skills to a test and to enter the #BarchesterChristmasWreaths competition.
We all had a wonderful time creating our festive wreath/s.
Thank you @bloominghaus for helping our residents flow into the true spirit of Noel.
English National Ballet
We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.
ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.
Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.
15-years long service celebrated
A member of the Housekeeping Team at Mallard Court Care Home in Bridlington has received a prestigious 15 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 15 years.
Jeannette Green, Domestic Assistant at Mallard Court commenced employment at Barchester on the 16th October and has workded with the housekeeping team to ensure the residents needs have been met over the years.
It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”
Dianne Peters, General Manager of Mallard Court said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 15 years of loyal service with Jeanette. She has shown her dedication and loyalty to the home and its residents year after year.
