Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Christmas Day here at Mallard Court in Bridlington…… Present opening with Mr & Mrs Claus, a visit from our General Manager, Dianne Peters and her dog Chalkie, Carol singing, a wonderful 5 course Christmas lunch, family visits, games and Kareoke to finish off a beautiful day.
Theatre production
We enjoyed a lovely festive Theatre Production here at Mallard Court this morning as we settled down to watch Hull Truck Theatre perform ‘The Railway Children’. A big thank you to Hull Truck Theatre who sent us a copy of their wonderful stage adaptation of this classic and well loved film whilst enabling our residents and staff to experience a theatre production.
We really enjoyed the stage version, adapted by Mike Kenny and the production evoked many happy memories of the original film version with both staff and residents.
Care Assistant celebrates 15-years service
Mallard Court care assistant Anna, a much loved and respected member of our care team, celebrated her 15 years Long Service Award this month. Anna commenced employment with Barchester Healthcare in December 2006. Anna was presented with a £250 Love 2 Shop voucher for her dedication. Congratulations from everyone at Mallard Court!
Magic of the Nutcracker
We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.
Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.
The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.
Christmas Truffle Making with Unilever
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.
Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.
To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.
We all had a wonderful time.
Christingle
We loved making our very own Christingles here at Mallard Court using cloves, fresh ginger, star anise and cinnamon sticks along fruit and berries and we used fresh Rosemary picked from our garden here at Mallard Court.
Our home smells of Christmas spices and our residents and staff loved creating their own individual Christingle!
