Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Life at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
St Patrick's Day Celebrations
Yesterday we celebrated St. Patrick's Day in recognition of the patron Saint and national apostle of Ireland.
The home was decorated with flags and we all enjoyed Irish themed activities like crafting Leprechauns and an Irish quiz!
Our talented Chef Andy prepared a menu of Irish dishes for all to enjoy, including Irish parsnip soup, Irish stew and Irish blackberry fool.
Our residents had a brilliant day! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Happy 99th Birthday!
Joan enjoyed a fun filled afternoon at her birthday tea party, all the residents came together to help her celebrate! Kitchen staff members created a beautiful Victoria sponge cake for the occasion. Fun was had by all!
St David’s Day
We celebrated a fun filled St. David’s Day recently. Starting off with making Welsh cakes with Lucy and Andy, followed by a delicious welsh themed three course meal and then a wonderful concert. Everyone had a lovely day.
Furry Friends
Recently we have been visited by Sheila and her small furry friends! The residents enjoyed the company of rabbits, guinea-pigs and doves.
It has been proven that animals have a calming effect on people, reducing blood pressure and heart rate. Not to mention the sensory enjoyment of touching their soft fur! A lovely time was had by all.
Valentine’s Day Celebrations
We had an amazing Valentine’s Day at Llys-Y-Tywysog! A morning concert from Chris Caine, who got residents and staff alike singing and clapping along! Followed by a beautiful valentines themed lunch of poached salmon or chicken in a leek and bacon sauce.
In the afternoon we shared stories of love: love letters, admirers, engagements, weddings – we reminisced about it all.
Happy Chinese New Year
We marked the Year of the Tiger in style, our residents had a fantastic day learning their Chinese zodiac signs and meaning, trying Chinese-themed puzzles, and of course, a Chinese styled lunch provided by our Chef, Andy.
All residents enjoyed the food and activities and are looking forward to our next themed dining event.
