Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Activities at Leonard Lodge

Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.

Lynn Amiri

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.

Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.

The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.

I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Performing pets

Our friends from Performing Pets visited us again today as part of the home’s animal therapy programme.

This time our residents were delighted to meet some gorgeous baby bunnies and budgies.

It was wonderful to see so many smiles and hear so much laughing all around the home.

Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

Live Christmas Music

We had a fantastic live performance from one of our favourite singers this week.

Residents agreed they had a lovely afternoon singing, bopping and jiving along with the talented Tim Arthur. He sang he best 50’s and 60’s tunes with lots of Christmas songs in between.

Live music is one of the cornerstones of our activities programme and we have a rolling calendar of live performers booked throughout the year.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Leonard Lodge is looking festive as we continue to decorate the home and get our Christmas jumpers on.

Our wreath making classes have paid off with beautiful creations to hang around the home alongside the other handcrafted decorations that the residents have made.

We are counting down to the big day but have lots of festive activities planned along the way.

Christmas Wreath Making

We were delighted to join Blooming Haus’s Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass, where Master Florist, Michal showed us the best method to create beautiful festive wreaths.

Following the tips and ideas learnt during the amazing virtual experience, we were happy to put our skills to a test and to lay the foundations of our Christmas wreath.

Tomorrow residents will contribute their finishing touches to enter a competition to be judged by the master florists. Stay tuned.

Thank you Blooming Haus - Floral Engineers for helping our residents flow into the true spirit of Noel.

Vintage Birthday Party

Every birthday is celebrated at Leonard Lodge as a great excuse to have a party.

This week residents enjoyed a vintage themed Afternoon Tea party, complete with homemade sandwiches, cakes, shortbread and G&T cocktails. Afterwards there was music and laughter along with a lot of reminiscing about childhood birthday parties.
