Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Activities at Leonard Lodge

Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.

Lynn Amiri

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.

Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.

The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.

I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Lest We Forget Performance

The wonderful ladies from the Lest We Forget organisation performed for us this week and they were brilliant!

They sang, danced, played keyboard and violin for us and we were all swept away by them. Live music is an important part of our life enrichment programme and we are particularly looking forward to having these lovely ladies back to perform for us again soon.

Real Bread Week

We have been baking for Real Bread Week. Our creations have included some beautifully soft white bread as well as a delicious cheese and onion bread.

Many of our residents are skilled bakers and it is great to use these skills to make the home smell gorgeous and to create delicious breads.

All enjoyed with a glass of wine!

Tail Wags Of Joy

Our wonderful volunteer Jan brought in her adorable Pomeranian to brighten up our day. This joyful bundle of fur has had residents and staff grinning from ear to ear!

Possible the world's friendliest dog was the centre of attention as residents and staff alike offered to adopt her!

Singer Delights The Ladies Of Leonard Lodge

Singer Liam Joseph was entertaining the ladies of Leonard Lodge yesterday.

Liam's well crafted show was a hit with the residents who were blown away with his talent and stage presence. Liam will be welcomed back in a couple of months to perform a new show and wow us all again.

Birthday And Valentine's Celebrations

Our beautiful Rhoda has just turned..... 21 again.... this week as it is also Valentine's Day we ensured that she had a LOVE-ly time.

Our talented chef whipped up a special menu, the team decorated the home in hearts and roses, whilst Rhonda enjoyed deliveries of presents and balloons.

Happy Birthday Rhonda and happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Born To Hand Jive, Baby!

Live music this week from singer Tracey Lee who had us dancing along to some of our favourite tunes.

Some our best afternoons are spent listening and watching the live entertainment that is a key part of our activities programme. Socialising and enjoying the experience with others makes the occasion even better!
