Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Ice-cream at Riverside Parlour

This morning our residents enjoyed sitting in the sunshine ️ enjoying an  ice cream  at the Riverside parlour, while taking in the wonderful view of Newark Castle. We enjoyed the traditional favourites raspberry ripple & rum and raisin along with other delicious flavours. A really lovely morning, we were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed spending time in our community.

A trip to the diner

This morning our residents enjoyed a trip to the OK Diner at Cromwell in Newark. We were all excited and eager to eat American ?? pancakes, we had discussed this at a recent residents meeting as something we would like to do.

Our residents have truly enjoyed the experience and we look forward to sharing the experience with others here at Lancaster Grange

Residents take to the water

Our Lancaster Grange residents were pleased to enjoy the river cruise this morning on the Newark Crusader.  We were lucky enough to be booked on the crusader's second trip since starting back up after their recent break due to Covid.   We enjoyed a picnic on the boat and our residents listened to the history of Newark, a most welcomed talk given by one of the crew members.  A fantastic treat for our residents, we look forward to our next trip, making it possible for other residents to enjoy.

Creative dance workshop with English Ballet

We celebrated International Youth Day virtually with English National Ballet’s youth dance company, ENBYouthCo and their Creative Director, Richard Bermange.

We had the opportunity to watch A Comedy in Long-shot, participate in a chair-based creative dance workshop and observe an open rehearsal where Richard and the young dancers created a performance inspired by our childhood memories.

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

Residents explore nightlife history with V&A

We had a lovely time joining V&A Dundee curator, Kirsty Hassard, as she introduced us virtually to the history and design of night clubs and the club culture from the 1960s to present day.

We explored the evolution and development of night clubs around the world, from Italy to America, and closer to home, looked at their importance as cultural venues and designed spaces.

This current exhibition celebrates night clubs at a very important moment, as we all look to a brighter future where everyone can come back together, to dance and to enjoy nights out once again.

We all enjoyed the virtual talk.

World Chocolate Day

Residents had a fab time celebrating World Chocolate Day – we enjoyed a trip out to the local Waitrose to pick up their donation of chocolate for us to enjoy. Thank to our local Waitrose store for your generosity!   Pat had a lovely time picking up her much needed essential shopping she said it felt great  to finally get out.
